Beginning January 23, the city will host the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, drawing thousands of fans from across the country for one of the sport’s most prestigious events.
Running from January 23 to February 1, 2026, this year’s tournament marks the 45th edition of the national women’s curling championship, organized by Curling Canada. It will also be the first time the Scotties has ever been hosted in the Greater Toronto Area, after Mississauga secured the winning bid in early 2025.
Canada’s top teams take the ice
Eighteen elite women’s teams will compete over the 10-day tournament. The field includes 14 provincial and territorial champions, along with four additional teams that qualified through the Canadian Team Ranking System.
Teams are divided into two pools of nine, with each squad playing eight round-robin games. The strongest performers will advance to the playoff rounds, where the national champion will be crowned.
The winning team earns the right to represent Canada at the BKT World Women’s Curling Championship in Calgary this March, and will also return next year as Team Canada at the 2027 Scotties.
Tickets still available as opening day approaches
With the tournament just around the corner, many ticket packages have already been snapped up. However, single-day tickets, family options, and group seating are still available.
Fans can purchase tickets through Curling Canada’s website or directly at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre box office during regular weekday hours. Organizers are encouraging fans to secure tickets soon as demand continues to rise ahead of opening night.
Live music and late-night energy at The Patch
Beyond the competition, fans can also experience Mississauga’s first-ever Scotties “Patch”, an official post-draw celebration space inside Rink 2 at the venue.
Opening night will feature a free live performance by Canadian rock band The Trews on January 23, starting around 10:30 p.m. ET, following the evening draw. Doors open at 5 p.m., with admission available to fans aged 19+ on a first-come, first-served basis.
Getting there and getting around
Visitors heading to the Paramount Fine Foods Centre can expect ample on-site parking, including accessible spaces. Transit users are encouraged to use MiWay, with several bus routes stopping near the venue.
With increased traffic expected throughout the tournament, attendees are advised to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider carpooling or rideshare options where possible.
A major boost for Mississauga
The Scotties Tournament of Hearts is expected to be one of the largest sporting events Mississauga has ever hosted, generating more than $6 million in economic impact, over 2,500 hotel room bookings, and increased business for local restaurants, retailers, and services.
The event further strengthens Mississauga’s growing reputation as a sports tourism destination, following recent high-profile events and with several major competitions still to come in 2026.
With world-class athletes, packed stands, and a city-wide buzz building ahead of opening day, Mississauga is ready to welcome curling fans from coast to coast.
